Manitoulin Island is unique in many ways as it is the world’s largest freshwater Island. It has more than a hundred inland lakes between its shores, and many of those lakes have Islands on them! There are more than two dozen small settlements, first nations and towns spread out across more than 160 kilometers of arboreal forest, lakes, rivers, shorelines. The sailing in the north Channel above the island is some of the best sailing in the world. The gorgeous waters of Lake Huron grace the islands’ shores.
